History

Giuseppe Brunetti emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1955 where he first met his sweetheart, Domenica. They were married within three months. Upon arriving in America, Giuseppe set off in pursuit of the American dream; he labored in a number of hard jobs similar to many hard-working immigrants.

In 1963, the Brunettis, along with Domenica’s sister and brother-in-law opened thefine-dining Italian restaurant under the name Nick’s La Cantina. In 1991, the Brunetti children, Mary, Vito, Toni and Joanna, together purchased their aunts and uncles ownership and changed the name to Giuseppe’s La Cantina to honor their father after he retired. 

Giuseppe Brunetti remained an active owner in the business for 42 years, until his passing in 2005 at the age of 85.

On December 31st, 2017, the Brunetti children closed the doors at 1062 Lee St, Des Plaines in order to retire. Eight months later, one of the third generation Brunetti’s, Salvatore Demma continued his grandfather’s legacy and opened “Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Catering” at 554 E Algonquin Rd, Des Plaines focusing on catering and take out services.

To this very day, one can still feel Giuseppe’s attention to quality and his fun-loving spirit all throughout the restaurant. .
